Jameson started drawing at a very young age and remembers spending hours drawing rows and rows of cars on large sheets of paper. Though this unfortunately did not lead to a career in designing cars, it did start a life-long love of creating art. While a graphic design student at BYU, Jameson had the opportunity to do some bat drawings for a new exhibit at Utah’s Hogle Zoo. This opened a door and soon after, Jameson got a job as a graphic designer for the Zoo. Working at the zoo was a dream job where Jameson was able to get paid to draw, photograph and design exhibits and signage for virtually all the zoo animals. After becoming the Art Director, Jameson started an annual art exhibition for Utah artists and worked with some of the best wildlife artists in the state. Working with many of these artists led Jameson to organize art/photo safaris to East Africa to see wildlife in their natural habitats. Seeing so many of his favorite animals in the wild continues to inspire him to capture their majesty and beauty through his drawings. Though no longer working at the Zoo, Jameson continues to take groups to African to share his love of the wildlife and people and he continues to draw not only African wildlife, but all manner of wild and not so wild animals. This has led to a fascination with birds in recent years as well as the heart-warming opportunity of capturing people’s favorite animals in art – their pets.

The artwork in this exhibit covers many years of Jameson’s drawings, but the majority are pieces he’s done in the last couple of years using a mix of colored pencil, pen, and markers to create his animal art.
