Museum visitors have been asking this question for a very long time.

The bone in the boot in the bear trap was acutally a Halloween prank put together by museum volunteers years ago. The bone is from an animal, not a human. The bone in the boot has become a local legend, so it makes sense to keep it in the museum as part of Fairview's history (and art?).
